William Vander Cooper, 76, of 222 Olive St., died yesterday at a Bakersfield hospital. He was born in Snowball, Ark., on Nov. 27, 1887. He had beena resident of the West Side for 40 years. Mr. Cooper was a retired oil worker. Survivors include his wife, Lola G. of Taft; three daughters, Mrs. Vera Grimes of Sacramento, Mrs. Opal Mitchem and Mrs. Edris Ritter, both of Bakersfield; nine grandchildren; one great-grandchild; three sisters, Mrs. Nettie Campbell of Snowball, Mrs. Cora Allen of Sacramento and Mrs. Ellen Campbell of Oklahoma; three brothers, Blain, George and Charles, all of Arkansas. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the chapel of the Erickson and Brown Funeral Home, with Elder William Brown of the Landmark Mission Baptist Church of Bakersfield officiating. Burial will be at West Side District Cemetery.
