Wilbur Elmer Patterson who succumbed Friday was a pioneer in the drilling activity of this area. He came to the West Side in 1909 and was born in Ohio August 8, 1889. He homesteaded at the Patterson Ranch in Cuyama Valley in 1921. He is survived by a son, Paul Brown, Taft; two brothers, Leroy of McPherson, Kans., and Elmer of Wichita, Kans.; two sisters, Lenora Foreman of Portland, Ind. and Clara Stork of Union City, Ind. He was a charter member of Methodist Church in the Cuyama Valley.
