Vina Campbell Patterson, born in Brownville, Texas, May 11, 1881, passed away in a Bakersfield hospital December 12, 1961 at the age of 80. She had been a resident of California for 63 years and a resident of the West Side for 40 years. She came to Maricopa in 1921 as a widow, and later met and married the late John Patterson. Vina was a member of the First Congregational Church of Maricopa and contributed much to its services with her singing. While on a trip to visit relatives in Arizona at Christmas time in 1958 she fell and broke her hip. Shortly afterward she suffered a stroke which made her bedfast since that time. She is survived by a brother, Thomas W. Campbell of Dana Point, and three sisters, Minnie Ballagh, Myrtle Anderson, and Geneva Axtell, all of Maricopa. Funeral services will be held in the Erickson and Brown Funeral Chapel at 11 o’clock Thursday morning. Reverend Jay M. Sapunar, minister of the Maricopa Congregational Church will conduct the service. Interment will follow in the West Side District Cemetery.
