Mr. Shem David Plaugher succumbed January 17 in a local hospital. He was born October 29, 1882 in Brandywine, West Virginia. He had resided on his ranch in Cuyama Valley since 1936. Plaugher was affiliated with the Plaugher Housemoving Company in Taft. Survivors are his widow, Ursula Susan of Cuyama Valley; one son, Norman J. of Taft; two sisters, Bessie Davis and Mary Comstock of Taft; seven grand children; six great grandchildren; his step mother, Mrs. Mattie Plaugher of Lima, Ohio; two sisters, Mrs. Niza Shrider of Lima, Ohio, and Mrs. Ruth Ayres of Philadelphia, PA.; ten brothers, Weldon of MT. Herman, Gilbert of Sugar Grove, West Virginia,Everett, Albert, Raymond and Charlie of Lima, Ohio, Eddie of Santa Maria, George of Campbell, Rollie and Woody of Orcutt. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday afternoon at 3 o’clock in the Erickson and Brown Chapel. Reverend Max Greenlee of the Presbyterian Church will officiate. Interment will follow in the West Side District Cemetery.
