Mr. Ruby (Rube) Nixon Stanfill, 110 Wood Street, passed away last night in the West Side District Hospital following a long illness. Mr. Stanfill had lived on the West Side for the past 18 years. He was a veteran of World I and a member of the Taft Black Gold Post 1998, Veterans of Foreign Wars and a member of the Taft WWI Barracks. He was born August 16, 1894 in Henderson County Tennessee. Mr. Stanfill is survived by his Widow, Cecil; a son, Gary of Bakersfield; a foster daughter of Taft, Gloria Sue; one granddaughter; three brothers, Dewey, Charleston, Mo., Ozzie, Jackson, Tennessee, and Elmer, Memphis, Tennessee. He is also survived by two sisters, Mrs. Ebbie Manness, Jackson, Tenn., and Vesta Swafford. Funeral services are set for 3:30 p.m. in the Chapel of Erickson and Brown. Felicia Joy Stanfill, a granddaughter, Bakersfield is a survivor. Rev. Leonard Palmer will officiate, Military rites will be conducted at the cemetery by the Veterans of World War I, Barracks 305.
