Mrs. Rita V. Feliz, 79, of 600 Bell Ave., died Saturday at a local hospital. Mrs. Feliz was born in Bakersfield on Feb. 29, 1884 and had lived in Taft since 1911. Mrs. Feliz was a resident here when most of the houses wre tents and water was brought in barrels by mule. Hers was one of the few wooden frame houses in Taft at that time. Mrs. Feliz in recent years had devoted much of her time to community and church projects. Her husband was the late Joaquin R. Feliz, also a pioneer Taft resident. Survivors include four daughters, Mrs. Rita F. Goodell, Mrs. Regina F. Foy, Miss Irene A. Feliz and Miss Constance M. Feliz, all of Taft; five grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren, and other relatives. Irene and Constance Feliz teach in Taft city schools and Mrs. Goodell teaches in McKittrick. Recital of the Rosary will be at 8 p.m. today at St. Mary’s Church. Requiem Mass will be at 10 a.m. tomorrow with Father John McKee officiating. Father Harry Eggert will assist. Interment will be at West Side District Cemetery under the direction of the Erickson and Brown Funeral Home
