A resident of Taft for the past 42 years, Reed Ellison Campbell, 66, of 305 D Street, died Saturday morning in a local hospital. Born May 25, 1897, in College City, Campbell operated Campbell’s Service Station and Tire Shop at Fourth and Kern Street for many years. He was a member of Taft Lodge No. 516, F.&A.M., of the American Legion Post No. 70 and was a veteran of World War II. Survivors include his widow Irene; a son Reed E. of San Francisco; a daughter, Mrs. Velma Shiffler of Lewisberg, West Virginia; four grandchildren and one great grandchild; and a sister, Mrs. Velma Ryan of San Francisco. Funeral services will be held tomorrow at 2 p.m. in the Erickson and Brown Funeral Home with Rev. James F. Kubik of the Community Methodist Church of Cuyama officiating. Burial will follow in the West Side District Cemetery.
