Mrs. Phyllis Rees Mitchell, 50, prominent West Side resident for the past 22 years, last night died in a Taft hospital. She was the wife of Dallas H. Mitchell, local businessman. Services will be conducted by Bishop Howard M. Pond in the Erickson and Brown Chapel at 11 a.m. Monday, burial to follow at West Side Cemetery. The deceased woman was a very active member of the Latter Day Saints Church here in Taft. She resided at 305 D Street in this city. Formerly of Provo, Utah, her birthplace on January 31, 1905, Mrs. Mitchell leaves one son, Carl Mitchell of Taft, and two married daughters, Mrs. Harry S. Peckham of Stockton, and Mrs. Robert A. Seymour of Whittier. She also is survived by a sister, Mrs. M.R. Roger of Upalco, Utah, and three brothers; Oran T. Rees of Taft; Dee M. Rees of Arcata, California; Earl Rees of Ogden, Utah. There are six grandchildren also. Mr. Mitchell owner and manager of the Magneto Service & Supply Co., 405 Harrison Street, Ford City, has requested friends to send contributions to the local cancer fund in lieu of flowers.
