Otto Phillips, 52, of 402 Jackson Street, died in his home yesterday from an apparent heart attack. Phillips owned and operated Otto’s Garage at 612 Sixth Street. Born in Cotton Plant, Arkansas, on Nov. 8, 1910, Phillips came to Taft 27 years ago. he was a member of Temblor Lodge # 477, F&AM and of the Lost Hills Missionary Baptist Church. Survivors include his widow, Georgia Lee; a daughter, Velma, of Taft; a son, Ronald and a brother, Rev. Tommie Phillips, both of Taft; and a sister, Mrs. Anna Mae Robertson of Chicago. Funeral services for Otto Phillips will be held Monday at 10 a.m. in the chapel of the Erickson and Brown Funeral Home. The Rev. A.P. Shoemaker will conduct the services. Interment will be in the West Side District Cemetery.
