Orrie Manuel Hixon, 73 of 623 Hazelton St. Maricopa, died yesterday at a local hospital. He was born in Salem, Ohio, Sept 12, 1890, and had been a resident of California for 52 years, spending most of that time on the West Side. He was a retired Standard Oil Company employee having worked for that company for 42 years, retiring in 1955. Mr. Hixon is survived by his wife, Mrs. Florence T. Hixon of Maricopa; three daughters, Mrs. Ella Johnson and Mrs. Ruth Wood, both of Taft, and Mrs. Helen Whitten of Peru, Ind.; two sons, Bill of Vinice and Orrie, Jr., of Canoga Park; 11 grandchildren, two great grandchildren; one brother, Grover of Arroyo Grande, and other relatives. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. tomorrow at the chapel of the Erickson and Brown Funeral Home with the Rev. Glen Miller officiating. Burial will be held at the West Side District Cemetery and in lieu of flowers, friends and family are asked to donate to the Kern County Cancer Society.
