Norman B. Vincent, Taft High math instructor and the voice at football games in Martin Memorial Stadium, is dead at the age of 39. Mr. Vincent, who joined the staff at Taft Union High School in 1951, died last at Mercy Hospital in Bakersfield. The young educator taught mathematics and was in charge of the high school’s swimming pool during the summer months. He was the man who described the plays over a public address system during sports games at Martin Field. Mr. Vincent of 410 Lucard, was born at Willets, Calif., on Oct. 16, 1924, but moved to Taft, with his parents while still an infant. He had lived here since about 1925, and was a member of the Lions Club. He is survived by his wife, Margaret of the home; three sons, Steven, Jamie and Nikky and a daughter, Natalie; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. J.F. Vincent of Taft; and a sister Mrs. Richard McKenna of New Mexico. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at the chapel of the Erickson and Brown Funeral Home wit the Rev. Kenneth Slorpe officiating.
