Mrs. Nancy Clayton, 101 E San Emidio, passed away yersterday afternoon in a local hospital. She was born in Buffalo, Missouri, on February 4, 1884 and had resided in California 52 years and on the West Side 45 years. The Clayton’s were former owners of Clayton’s Motel in Taft. Mrs. Clayton is survived by her husband, Lee of the Taft address; one son Clyde Clayton of Lynnwood, California; one daughter, Verda Dixon of Taft; three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; three brothers John A. Sturdevant of Taft, Jessie Sturdevant of Florence, Kansas, and Harry Sturdevant of Glendale, California; three sisters, Mrs. Maude Martin of Hutchison, Kansas, Mrs. Rachel Flenor of Springfield, Colorado, and Mrs. Elsie Gauldin of Taft, other relatives also survive. Funeral services will be held Friday, December 15, at 11 a.m. in the Chapel of Erickson and Brown Funeral Home with Reverend Quinten Mitchell, minister of the First Christian Church officiating. Interment will be in West Side District Cemetery.
