Mrs. Mary Josephine O’Brien 308 Woodrow Street, succumbed at her home yesterday afternoon. Mrs. O’Brien had been a resident of Taft for the past 36 years. She was born May 25, 1884 in Waterford City, Ireland and at the time of her death she was a member of the St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Taft. Mrs. O’Brien who had been ill for a number of years, had planned a return trip to her native Ireland in 1948, but sickness at that time prevented her making the proposed trip with her husband, then retired from the Standard Oil. During recent years she has been confined to the family home, but as a long time resident of the West Side has held an active interest in its growth and development. Mrs. O’Brien leaves in addition to her husband, Patrick Thomas O’Brien of Taft; two sons, Tom M. O’Brien and Alfred P. O’Brien of Taft; one daughter, Mrs. Kathleen M. Stout of Taft and six grandchildren. Rosary will be conducted tonight at 8 o’clock in the Erickson and Brown Chapel. Mass will be said Saturday morning at 9 in the St. Mary’s Catholic Church with Reverend James Voytko officiating. Interment will follow in the West Side District Cemetery.
