Mr. Leo E. Nichols of Morro Bay a retired oil worker died in a Fresno Hospital Saturday after a long illness.  Mr. Nichols was born in harding, Nebraska.  He lived in California for 36 years most of the time on the West Side.  He worked as a member of a United States Geological Survey team and for Standard Oil,.  He was also employed at the Elk Hills Naval Petroleum Reserve.

He was a World War I Army Veteran and a former member of the Fellows Post of the American Legon.

Mr. Nichols is survived by his widow, Elizabeth, and a daughter, Nafine, both of Morrow Bay; two sons Jack Nichols, Whittier, and James Nichols, Laurel, Mississippi; two sisters, Mrs. Carrie Crecelius and Mrs. Lucy Conkey, both of Taft; gour grandchildren and two nieces, Mrs. Clara Wright, Chicago, and Mrs. Helen Vaux, Taft, and other relatives.

Funeral services for Mr. Leo E. Nichols will be conducted in the Erickson and Brown Chapel on Wednesday at 2 p.m.  The officers of the Fellows American Legion will be in charge of the service.  Interment will follow in the veterans plot of the West Side District Cemetery.
