One of Taft’s oldest residents Mrs. Katherine Irene Turner succumbed Saturday evening in a local hospital. Mrs. Turner was born in Alameda February 28, 1877. She moved to Taft with her husband, the late Arthur Turner, early in 1910. Turner served as a peace officer in the early days of the city’s growth. Survivors include two sons, Douglas A. of Taft and Keith R. of Germany, one daughter, Mrs. Ruth E. Norris of Greenville, South Carolina and eight grandchildren. Rosary will be at Erickson and Brown Funeral Chapel, Tuesday evening at 8:15. Mass will be said Wednesday morning at 9 in St. Mary’s Catholic Church, with Father James Voytko officiating.
