John George Quimby, well known pioneer of the West Side, passed away Monday at his home, 703 Tyler Street. Rosary will be Wednesday evening at 8 o’clock in the Erickson and Brown Funeral Chapel with Mass to be conducted Thursday at 9 a.m. in the St. Mary’s Church with Rev. James Voytko officiating. Interment will follow in the West Side Cemetery. Mr. Quimby, a retired oil worker, was a native of Pennsylvania, born December 15,1878 in New Castle. He had resided in the state for 47 years. Survivors include his widow, Gertrude; son, Charles E. Quimby and daughter, Mrs. Irene Garner; brother, Samuel Quimby, all of Taft; sister, Mrs. Elizabeth Vancil of Dayton, Ohio, and four grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
