Pioneer Taftian Johnny Edward Springer died yesterday in a Bakersfield hospital. He was 59. Springer who resided at 405 South Seventh Street, is a native of California, born on August 1, 1903. He had lived on the West Side for the past 47 years. Springer was also a member of the Gallon Club of the West Side Blood Bank. A former employee of the Consolidated Western Pipe and Steel Company and a projectionist in local theaters for the past 30 years, Springer was a member of the Free and accepted Order of Masons. Survivors include his widow, Thelma; a son, John E., Springer, of Fresno; two daughters, Jane Kolyer of Huntsville, Alabama and Sandra Murch of Taft; and six grandchildren Funeral services will be held tomorrow at 2 p.m. in the Erickson and Brown Funeral Home with officers of the Midway Lodge No. 426 F&AM officiating.
