The body of Jessie Calvin Sims who drowned July 4 while fishing on the Pitt River was discovered July 9 and will be brought to Taft for burial. Mr. Sims was a resident of Montgomery Creek near Fall River Mills and Red Bluff. Prior to his residence in Montgomery Creek, since 1942 he had been a resident of the West Side and employed in the oil fields. Mr. Sims was born January 22, 1892 in Oklahoma. Survivors include his widow, Nell; two daughters, Mrs. Clara Lunsford of Maricopa and Mrs. Mary Hudson of Taft; three grandchildren, one brother, Oscar of Bakersfield and other relatives. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday afternoon at 2 o’clock in the Erickson and Brown Chapel with the Rev. Joseph Bruner of the First Baptist Church officiating. Interment will be in the West Side District Cemetery.
