Former Taft Couple Die on Same DayMr. George Henry Clark died yesterday morning, August 27, in a Bakersfield hospital. His wife, Mrs. Jeannette Clark, followed him in death at their home, 2175 Pacific Avenue, Bakersfield, some hours later. Mr. and Mrs. Clark had been residents of Taft for many years prior to moving to Bakersfield two years ago. Mr. Clark was affiliated with the Butlin-Clark Garage in Taft. They made their home in Taft at 400 D Street. Mr. Clark was a member of the Midway Lodge, Taft, F&AM 426. He was born June 16, 1884, in Hemet. He is survived by a step-daughter, Mrs. Ada Scurlock of Cuyama; two grandchildren, Mrs. Violet Ellis of Taft and Ray Trivett of Bakersfield; five great grandchildren; six brothers, Preston, of Fallon, Nev., Isaac of Dos Palos, Andy of Oroville, Ernest and lloyd of Williams and Ira of Taft; three sisters, Mrs. Hattie Danielson of Sparks, Nev., Mrs. Minnie Barratt of Applegate and Mrs. Laura Danielson of Fallon, Nev. Mrs. Clark was a member of the La Habra Chapter, Order of Eastern Stars. She was born May 11, 1885, in Missouri. Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Ada Scurlock of Cuyama and two grandchildren, Mrs. Violet Ellis of Taft and Ray Trivett of Bakersfield and five great grandchildren. Taft Chapter, 337, Order of Eastern Stars, and the Taft Midway Lodge, F&AM 426, will conduct joint funeral services Saturday at 10 a.m. in the Erickson and Brown Funeral Chapel. Mr. and Mrs. Clark will be interred in the Masonic Plot of the West Side District Cemetery.
