James Edward Stafford, 72, of 418 Jackson St., died yesterday morning in a local hospital. He was born on Sept. 16, 1891 in Gainesboro, Tenn., and had lived on the West Side for the past 40 years. Mr. Stafford was a World War I veteran, and he belonged to the VFW and the World War I veterans organizations. Survivors include his widow, Willie Jo of Taft; two sons, Mark H. of Bellflower, Calif. and Wayne T. of Englewood; one daughter, Beatrice A. Kirschner of Downey; six grandchildren; one brother, John L. of Bakersfield; two sisters, Clessie B. Frederick of Doniphan, Mo; and Mattie A. York of Bellflower. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. tomorrow at the chapel of the Erickson and Brown Funeral Chapel with the Pastor Ross McGinnis and William T. Brown of the Church of Christ officiating. Burial will be at West Side District Cemetery.
