Mr. James A. Reed, 420 Mt. View, succumbed Saturday afternoon in a local hospital. He had been a resident of Taft for 38 years. He was a former employee of the King Lumber Company. He had been employed in the lumber business some 49 years prior to his retirement. Mr. Reed was born October 14, 1874 in Ohio. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge, Cedar Lodge, 153; Free and Accepted Order of Masons, Chanute, Kans.; Hulda Parker Chapter, 383, Order of the Eastern Star; Scottish Rites, Ft. Scott, Kansas; Asylum Temple, 44, Knights of Templar, Chanute and the Mirza Temple, Shrine, Pittsburg, Kansas. Survivors include his widow Grace Reed; two daughters, Mrs. Louise Minnick of Granite Station and Miss Dolores Reed of Taft; one brother, Henry W. Reed of Newton, Kans.; two sisters, Mrs. Mattie Laver of Tulsa, Okla., and Mrs. Eunice Campbell of Chanute, Kansas and three grandsons. Services will be conducted Tuesday t 10 a.m. in the Erickson and Brown Chapel. Officers of the Midway Blue Lodge, F&AM 426 will officiate. Interment will follow in the West Side District Cemetery.
