MR. Harlie Clay Mathis succumbed yesterday afternoon from head injuries sustained October 8 at approximately 11 p.m. in a non-collision auto accident on Honolulu Hill. He and his fiancee were occupants of a car which missed a curve and plunged off the road throwing both the driver and passenger, Miss Barbara Phillips, 16. Mr. Mathis was born October 9, 1937, in Vian, Okla. He has resided in Taft 15 years and attended Taft schools. He was recently discharged from the service. Survivors include his parents Henry C. and Fannie May Mathis, 218 E Street; two brothers, John W. and Allen of Taft; six sisters, Miss Iva Mathis, Miss Sarah Mathis and Miss Donna Mathis of Taft and Mrs. Pauline Stephens of Taft; Mrs. Pauline Gibson of Wichita, Kans., and Mrs. Eddie Prindle of Coalinga. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday at 2 p.m. in the Erickson and Brown Chapel with Rev. D.B. Rogers of the Ford City Church of God officiating. Interment will be in the West Side District Cemetery.
