Mr. Guy Evan Shelby died Saturday morning in a Bakersfield hospital as a result of injuries sustained in a fall from a horse August 8, Mr. Shelby was born April 6, 1912 in Tennessee. He had been a resident of the West Side for the past 14 years. His home was on the R.M. Harris Lease, three and one-half miles southeast of Maricopa. He was an employee of the Standard Oil Corporation. Survivors include his widow Dessie; three sons, E. Kenneth, Frank Beryl and George Meryl of Maricopa; his mother, Mrs. Etta Shelby of Doniphan, Mo.; eight sisters, Mrs. Mary Branson of Doniphan, Mo., Mrs. Lexie Spell, Mrs. Laverne Pritchard, Mrs. Bonnie Montgomery and Mrs. Iris Faye Jordan of St. Louis, Mo., Mrs. Maxine Shirley of Norfolk, Va., Mrs. Mescal Barnhart of Poplar Bluff, Mo., Mrs. Maybelle Martin of Gatewood, Mo., and one half sister, Mrs. Kate Scott, Paducah, Ky., and two grandsons. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday afternoon at 2 o’clock in the Erickson and Brown Chapel. Brother Monroe of the Church of Christ of Wasco will officiate. Interment will be in the West Side District Cemetery.
