Gerald (Jed) M. Christner, resident of the West Side since 1910, succumbed early this morning in a local hospital. Mr. Christner was born May 19, 1909 in Thorpe, Wash. He was an employee of the General Petroleum Corporation and worked for the firm since 1934. He was working as a field serviceman at the time of his death. During World War II he served as a Chief Machinist’s Mate in a Seabee Construction Battalion. Survivors include his widow, Mary, 424 Kern Street, his mother, Mrs. Lola Christner and a sister, Mrs. Cleda Richards, both of Arroyo Grande. Funeral services will be conducted Sunday afternoon for Gerald (Jed) M. Christner who died early Friday morning in a local hosptal. The closed casket service will be held a 2:00 p.m. at the Erickson and Brown Funeral Home. Friends may pay their respects at the funeral home today and Sunday prior to the funeral services. Reverend Paul S. Ray, of the First Baptist Church will officiate.
