A resident of Taft for the past 41 years, Francis Marion Bright, 95, of 705 Crystal Street, died yesterday in a Bakersfield hospital. Bright was born in Westville, Oklahoma on Oct. 10, 1867. He came to Taft in 1922 after selling his land on the Cherokee Strip in Oklahoma. He was a retired oil worker and carpenter and was also well known in Taft for his beautiful rose gardens. A member of the First Baptist Church of Taft, Bright is survived by his widow Mary; two sons, John W. of McKittrick ans Walter W. of Bakersfield; eight grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren. Two grandsons, Richard J. Bright and Donald W. Bright as well as a grandaughter, Mrs. Barbara Lee, all reside in Taft. Funeral services will be held in the Erickson and Brown Funeral Home at 2 p.m. with Rev. Lauren Hedeen of the First Baptist Church officiating. Tomorrow’s services will be followed by burial in the West Side District Cemetery.
