Mrs. Bessie Lola Johnson, wife of Wilbur W. Johnson, Sr., died April 1 in a local hospital. She was born near Edna, Kansas, on November 15, 1894. Mrs. Johnson had lived in California 33 years and on the West Side since 1939. She had lived on an oil lease near McKittrick, California for several years. Other survivors include two sons, Wilbur W. Johnson, Jr., of Pasadena and Richard H. Johnson of Bakersfield; three daughters, Mrs. Lorraine Phillips of Taft, Mary Johnson of Moab, Utah and Beverly Johnson of Atascadero. Seventeen grandchildren and eight great grandchildren; and two brothers, Raymond E. Smith of Nicolaus, California and Henry Smith of Coffeyville, Kansas also survive. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. in the Erickson and Brown Chapel. Reverend Chester R. Lewis will officiate. Interment will be in West Side Cemetery.
