Mr. Alfred James Maxey died at his home, 414 Van Buren, last night. He was born August 8, 1891 in London, England. He was formerly a sales man at McMahan Furniture Company of Taft, and has been a resident of this community for 37 years. He was a World War I veteran. He is survived by his widow, Harriett; his mother, Louisa Maxey of Taft; one step-son, Robert Jones of Los Angeles; one stepdaughter, Mrs. Vivian Cox, of Bakersfield; six grandchildren and five great grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Ada Thompson of Taft, and Mrs. Ethel Condley of Bakersfield. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Jan. 20, 1t 10 a.m. in the Erickson and Brown Chapel, with Rev. Max Greenlee officiating. Interment will be in the West Side District Cemetery.
